2010 CIO of the Year Awards

Welcome to the dedicated event management site for the twelfth annual CIO of the Year® Awards. This premiere technology event is recognized by CIO Magazine as the only event of its kind in the nation.
Since 1998, the CIO of the Year® Awards event has recognized excellence among C-level executives in the local information technology industry. Nominations are gathered from within the IT community and are judged by a panel of senior executives; the nominees represent a range of Georgia-based businesses and nonprofit organizations that meet specific criteria for revenue and number of IT users.
Keynote Speaker of the Year – According to Many
Michael Capellas, KKR Senior Advisor for Technology and former Chairman and CEO of First Data, will be the keynote speaker at the 2010 CIO of the Year Awards on October 20, 2010.
Capellas, a 30-year IT veteran, joined KKR in his new role March 31, 2010, having previously served as chairman and CEO of First Data since 2007. His prior roles include CEO of both Compaq Computer Corp. and MCI.
"Over his career, Michael has been a key figure in the evolution of the computer industry, from helping to secure a key partnership between Compaq and Microsoft to overseeing the successful restructuring of MCI," said Brian Shield, 2010 GCLA Chairperson and CIO of The Weather Channel. "We're honored to have him speak and look forward to hearing his unique insights gathered from a distinguished career in information technology."
