Numerex’s Versatility Highlighted in Hurricane-struck Areas
Atlanta, Georgia - Sep 23, 2008

Atlanta-based Numerex Corp. (Nasdaq: NMRX), a leading provider of full-service, highly secure machine-to-machine (M2M) network services and solutions, today announced that its satellite-based units were successfully deployed by various customers, including the US Army, in response to the violent hurricanes Gustav and Ike, which unleashed their fury on the Gulf States in the last few weeks.  In addition to the satellite tracking devices, Numerex Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs) were used in theaters of operations where no other means of telecommunications were available.

Among such users, Garner Environmental Services, Inc. recently acquired a range of Numerex units that were utilized with the utmost efficiency during the recent hurricanes.  Garner Environmental, headquartered in Houston, is a full-service environmental company offering disaster response for natural and man-made disasters as well as emergency response for oil and hazardous material spills, state emergencies such as the World Trade Center attacks, plant explosions, train derailments and traffic related incidents. In such adverse circumstances as hurricanes, communications, in whatever form, are critical. John Temperilli, Garner Environmental’s Vice President of Disaster Services states, ““The use of Numerex VSAT and GPS tracking equipment as well as the FELIX™ (Field Enhanced Logistics) web-based back office mapping and logistics management system is integral to our success with our client groups in the current hurricane season response, recovery and mitigation efforts.  We began using Numerex equipment and systems in 2004 through four hurricanes in Florida, and have been extremely satisfied about our decision ever since. We are very pleased with the ensuing technological evolution of equipment and services provided to us by Numerex.”

Stratton Nicolaides, Chairman and CEO of Numerex added:  “These are tragic moments for the people that are suffering from the severe destruction and disruption caused by the hurricanes, and no time should be wasted in bringing conditions back to normal.  We are glad that our units proved to be highly reliable in these dire circumstances.  Not only were we able to help track all kinds of equipment threatened by the storms, but our satellite technology responded effectively in supplementing impaired telecommunications links.”
